Gradi Projects first partnered with B&W Espresso in 2024 to deliver their boutique espresso bar in Sydney’s iconic Strand Arcade. The project was a study in contrast and craft, riffing on the name Black & White through a bold interplay of texture, materiality, and light.

Following the success of this concept, the café owners re-engaged our team to lead the design and delivery of their premier full-service offering, set within the newly redeveloped Chatswood Chase precinct. This next chapter expands the brand’s visual language into a larger, more immersive hospitality experience, anchored by custom terrazzo finishes, artisanal detailing, and biophilic design principles.

Designed to balance refined craftsmanship with everyday functionality, the interior draws on the brand’s identity through a sophisticated layering of materials, textures and natural elements. Warm finishes, handcrafted details and abundant greenery create a welcoming environment that feels both contemporary and timeless.

Delivered as part of the landmark Chatswood Chase redevelopment led by Multiplex, the project was completed within a live construction environment alongside the centre’s broader transformation. Close collaboration between stakeholders, consultants and trades ensured the successful delivery of the venue, bringing B&W Espresso’s flagship destination to life within one of Sydney’s premier retail precincts.

The completed café represents the evolution of the B&W Espresso brand, an elevated hospitality experience that celebrates quality, craftsmanship and connection through thoughtful design and construction.
